I'm in a loaner heap that has an apu. Carrier Comfort Pro. Never messed with one of these. Always had an inverter myself and weren't waiting 6 hours in 12 degrees for my turn n burn partner. Apu starts then says engine run check and shuts off. Any ideas? Barring that, anyone know how to keep a freightshaker idling when tractor brake and clutch don't work?

Just says "please wait engine run check" then rolls back over to say "restarting".Over the past week, forum members have been discussing the best options for APUs in order to cut fuel use and engine idling expenses. Can you get it worked on any where in America? Maintenance intensive! Where to have service done, NOT the price! Will the Flying J have the parts on hand or have to get them shipped in? ThermoKing and Carrier have the parts on hand! With the RigMaster you can look forward to oil changes every hours with that Kubota engine!
The air filter gets clogged up pretty fast too. Read the rest of the thread…. By Samuel Barradas. I have had my tri pak well for little over two years I have about ten thousands hours on it and besides getting it serviced every other time I get my truck serviced have had no problems out of it.
It is impossible to to put 10, hours on your tripac in 2 years. I use my all the time and after 15 months I have only put 1, hours on it.
So BS. Why do you want a tri pack, It ties into the water and if you have a hoes go bad. You cant run the truck. I use a Black Rock for years. It does not tie into the truck in anyway. No additional costs. Diesel pay will give you better comfort just like idling would, but it will be more expensivebelts snap sometimes every other month, requires oil changes, and burns gas.
Tripac evolution is a good unit. My company has them on all of our new trucks. Used to have Rigmaster. Sure some systems have claim more power, more cooling, and more heating, but truth be told, from an HVAC engineering standpoint, they are horribly, horribly designed.
RigMaster failed and is no longer on the market. All types of apu need service. Get one that you can get service for. Currently Carrier and ThermoKing are the only 2 units that offer the buyer sercurity.
Pricing is roughly the same for either unit.Page of 55 Go. Auxiliary Power Unit. Show quick links. Hide Hide permanently. Table of Contents. P Components Page 3 3. Find Trucking Jobs. Apr 12, 1. I bought a used Milton truck back in Sept. Up until recently i've only did routine maintenance which is fairly cheap seeing as how it's only every other month. In all honesty I spent more money on the APU that's on the truck then the truck itself, until the end of March I put it in the shop for a PM, and to have an oil leak check.
But anyway, a back in January the APU stopped putting out vac. It would start and run just fine after i bled the air out of the fuel line but it wasn't putting out any current which meant all I could do was keep the engine warm and recharge my batteries. So every month when i'm home on hometime, i'll spend a couple of hours tinkering with it. The first thing i found was that Kenworth MHC neglected to put a shut off valve on my coolant lines, which was an issue when i was replacing the water pump.
After that i had the oil pressure sending unit act all crazy for two days and kept making the engine shut off. And then recently I couldn't even get it to start because it kept saying "Main Engine Interlock".
So after finding copies of the service and owners manual i dug deep. Found that there's a relay that control the engine interlock. How to Install PowerTwist High Performance Link Belting
Jump'd it over to test, and the APU started just fine. For the no voltage issue, the manual says if there's no voltage before the 35amp breaker, then the capacitor is the suspect, but the only way to test is with a good capacitor.
Kept digging through the manual and found that there's three capacitors in the actual HVAC unit under the bunk. Got down to it and pulled the large one out. Wired it in and fired it up and got my little lighting bolt back. I shut everything down pretty quick because i wasn't sure if it was the right size or what not. In all honesty if it turned out that the generator was shot, i was just going to buy another belt driven compressor and a amp alternator and rig in there and call it a day.
I know when i was searching google for answers as to why my Control Panel would say the main engine was on when it wasn't, i saw some other people that were having the same issue. Find Trucking Jobs. Apr 7, I'd go with glow plugs. My first thought. Long cranks hard fire. If your generator is giving any sort of voltage it's not your generator. No capicitor your generator gives off 4 to 6 volts. Bad capicitor shows a voltage of vac to like 90 ish. People try and compensate for this by idling up which then changes your Hz frequency.

ComfortPro Diesel APU
You have a fuel primer 10mm bolt. Crack that while cranking. Close when not cranking. So, short answer, buy a different APU if I have the option? Go for it. I like the comfort pro.
